Kids Free San Diego is an annual program run by the San Diego Tourism Authority, and 2026 brings more than 100 offers across the region. A handful of venues in Tijuana have joined this year too, which is a first.

This is the best-kept secret of Kids Free October. The San Diego Museum Council runs a single Kids Free pass that unlocks coupons for more than 70 participating museums across the county.
The standard deal is two children ages 12 and under free with one full-price adult admission, but note that this may vary slightly between venues. Grab your pass by signing up with the San Diego Museum Council before you leave home.
Participating museums include the Fleet Science Center, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, and a long list of art, cultural, and history museums, many of them clustered in Balboa Park.

Do you need to reserve, or can you just show up?
It depends entirely on the venue, so check with individual attractions before visiting. To play it safe, it's usually better to purchase tickets online in advance, particularly for the big theme parks like LEGOLAND and SeaWorld.
Do you need a coupon?
For many museums, yes, you need coupons, but they're easy to get hold of. Simply sign up at the San Diego Museum Council website to receive a downloadable pass. You can either print it off or keep it on your phone to show at the admissions desk at all participating museums.
Are all the deals good every day in October?
Most deals run the full month, October 1 through 31, with no blackout days, but occasionally attractions limit offers to certain days of the week. This is rare, but check the specific terms for any venue you are building a day around.
Can you combine Kids Free with other discounts?
This is the big one, and the answer is usually no. The Kids Free coupons cannot be combined with any other offer or discount, so you have to pick whichever saves more.
Multi-attraction passes are also excluded. Go City, CityPass, and the Balboa Park Explorer Pass are all invalid for this promotion. Figure out which attractions you want to visit and run the numbers to compare the cost of passes against the Kids Free offers.
How many kids go free per adult?
Anywhere from one to six, depending on the venue. San Diego Zoo's six-kids-per-adult ratio is unusually generous, while most museums land at two and the theme parks at one.
Keep in mind that most venues offer year-round free entry for babies and very young kids (usually aged 2 and under), so if you have any very little ones in your party, they don't count towards your free-kid limit.
If you are traveling with a large group, count your paying adults against your kids before you go. Sometimes bringing one more grown-up along unlocks enough free kids' tickets to make it cheaper overall.
