A19 - Surf Shack

This condo is fantastic! The location was great (you see the view of the bathroom in the photos...but you can't beat being this close to the beach)! The condo was more spacious than it looked the pictures and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the condo clean. We've stayed in several NCV units and would definitely rent this one again.

Right on the beach. Amazing to just walk off the balcony. Grounds are beautiful and lush. Laundry onsite was super clean (however it only takes app payments and no Wi-Fi in laundry room to download app). Unit was clean, very comfortable, had lots of extras for the beach. Decent amount of traffic on the strand but fun to also see all the classic/ show cars driving by.

We’ve rented from “On-the-Sand” before and we love North Coast Village! We’ve rented condos five times here and we keep coming back. One of our favorite condos is A19. We feel that the Surf Shack is our home away from home. Love, love, love it!

This ground level corner home is the best. It has so much going on with all of the people and beach activities right across the street. You can be in your own place but still be right in the middle of it all. I love people watching! The pier and the harbor are so convenient and so much fun. We can't wait to stay again next year!

We stayed for one week with two boys. Excellent location for getting to the beach, but it is a very busy area and can be noisy at times with traffic and beach goers. The condo itself had everything we needed.  Overall we very much enjoyed our stay.

This condo was even nicer than the pictures. We thought it might be the nicest location in the whole complex too! Check-in was easy. I appreciated the text from the management letting me know how to get a hold of them. Walking out the patio to the beach was amazing! Being right on The Strand was fun (despite the occasional car or bike driving by with loud music-- all part of the experience!) Views from the master bedroom were so nice. Loved the layout of the apartment. The complex was so beautiful, but hard to navigate, but we figured it out in a day or two.

Great location, a mere few steps from the beach.  The condo was beautiful and supplied well. The community it was in is amazing as well and worth walking through. The hosts were easy to work with. They provided lots of information before hand to make our trip easier. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would definitely try to plan another trip.

Location and condo were great! We loved walking right across the street to the beach. Kids loved the pool, and the location was great! Walking distance to the pier, the harbor and town. We had a great time!

There was a few things upon arrival that needed fixed (screen for sliding door and blinds) as soon as I message they had some one out same day to fix the screen. It was completely stocked with everything you needed. It was great. Will stay again.

Easy access to the beach, great view and one can always hear the sound of the ocean from the condo. Condo nicely stocked with dishes, kettles, towels etc. Secure, safe parking in gated garage. Weather was great even cloudy days are fun at the beach. Only draw at all is that once in a while some hot rodders like to use that corner to roar their engines and race up the hill. Other than that, GREAT vacation spot.

Just steps from the beach! We couldn’t have been happier! We had a great time and the kids got as much beach time in as possible. Thank you for having beach/water toys available. The kids loved them. We had everything we needed and then some. Both the harbor and pier are within walking distance with great restaurants. We hope to come back again! Thank you for sharing your little oasis with us!

 Really enjoyed our stay. North coast village is great, although we were not able to use the spas or gym due to the pandemic. I e loved that we could step right out the balcony practically onto the sand. The bathrooms across the road blocked what could be a wonderful view and it was kind of a bummer having to take everything off the patio at night to avoid theft. But all I’m all we had a great stay, none of these things were a deal breaker (even the ants) and we would gladly stay again.

Great location! Everything was wonderful! Be aware it is right on the strand so there is a lot of traffic and noise, but it didn’t affect our stay at all. We have a 2 year old that was able to sleep through all the noise no problem. It is literally a few feet from the beach, and what a beautiful beach it is. This is the best location for such a great price! Would definitely stay again with no hesitation! --- A few fans were not working because the blades were loose, but my husband found the toolkit and fixed them right up. We had a great time in such a great location. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Great spot for a family vacation. It is steps to the beach, which has its pros and cons. Pros: super easy access to the beach so you don't have far to haul your gear and can easily go back for whatever you need. Cons: lots of cars in the evening driving loudly around the corner and the bathrooms are directly across the street which blocks the view and creates a bit of noise. For us, the pros far outweighed the cons. The space was clean and well stocked overall. We would definitely stay again

We always enjoy our stay at the Surf Shack! This was our 4th stay in this condo and approximately our 16th year at NCV. Surf Shack is our favorite! The On-the-Sand group are excellent and always make sure our stay is a good one. Already booked for next year.

This location is awesome and definitely the major perk of staying here! Everything was clean, however, a few areas like the patio are very worn and could use some attention. We really enjoyed our stay, and our host was excellent.

The Surf Shack had everything our family of four needed. We used it as a jump off spot for a week of adventures and as access to the beach. We especially enjoyed our morning walks on the beach with coffee. We also enjoyed the short walk to downtown Oceanside for dinner and to catch the Coaster train for trips to the San Diego Zoo and harbor. The condo was well appointed (complete with boogie boards and sand toys). The complex is well-run and we enjoyed our conversations with residents and guests at the pool and hot tub. We used the laundry room, which was clean and cared for. The gated, bottom-level parking was nice too. Max height is 6' 6", so if you have a car-top box, you might have to take it off and stash it somewhere. The unit is right on The Strand (one-way beachfront street) so you get the occasional car rolling by with loud music -- but mostly that added to the feeling of being down where the action is. The Strand is super popular for strolling and biking, and it seemed everyone who passed by smiled and said hello, as if to say "how cool is this!". We had a blast and plan to return.

Large comfy beds, all the beach towels and chairs you will need, large kitchen, by the road but a useful spot for watching the cruisers pass by. Great WiFi with Netflix available on living room TV. When I contacted on-the-sand staff, always helpful polite and courteous. Would definitely highly recommend.

The unit A19 was very comfortable and well kept. We appreciated how clean and "pretty" the unit was This includes the bedding linens and kitchenware. Wonderful breezes made the condo very pleasant. We had no problem with noise or other disturbances at all. Every encounter that we had with any of the employees was a pleasure; everyone was helpful so welcoming . Thank You!

We needed a family vacation at the beach, and this was the perfect location. Literally 12 steps from the back deck to the sand, this condo couldn't have been better! The condo itself was modern, spacious and well-stocked for our family of 5 (plus grandma). There were tons of beach toys and boogey boards for the children and everything we needed to prepare meals. Staff and other residents were very helpful and friendly, the basket of snacks were a nice gesture. The grounds of the complex were beautiful, so lush and green, and feeding the koi was fun for the children. I couldn't imagine a better area, there were so many little restaurants within walking distance, and even a farmers' market and food vendors on Thursdays in Oceanside. Playing at the beach all day and listening to the waves at night with the lovely ocean breeze was just what we needed for an escape from a long Canadian winter! It was also only about 15 minutes to Legoland, and 45 mins to San Diego, and less than 90 mins to Disneyland, so a perfect home base if you wanted to travel and explore the area. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, and would recommend it highly to other travellers.

lovely condo. the location has great and easy beach access. however, it is directly across from the public bathroom so be prepared for outside traffic/activity. Fun people & car watching. The supplies in the kitchen are lacking compared to other units i have stayed in. some kitchen items even had tape across them stating they were broken. Some extra blankets would also be nice to have. overall, a very nice unit and we enjoyed our stay.
