Sunset On The Strand

Great place to stay. Right off the boardwalk. Restaurants and shops were about a 10 min walk. Small market 5 min away. We had no need to drive. The view was amazing!! The outside patio on the top was great!! Lots of area for big families Lots of towels , plates etc Would definitely recommend!!

The location was incredible right on the beach and the popular "Strand". Walking distance to the pier and to Mission Ave as well. The views were fantastic from the living/dining/kitchen and large balcony. The home was large and the hot tub was nice and hot.

We had a great time! We filled the house with our family. We used the kitchen for our meals, and it had what we needed. I would say with having a larger group, using all three showers at once wasn’t the best. But in the end we had a blast and want to come back next year, four nights wasn’t enough.

It’s a good spot 4/5 for us
Pros: Beautiful home, amazing view, very spacious layout, great location, and well-stocked with kitchen items and beach supplies.
Cons:
• Limited privacy due to large uncovered windows facing the neighboring home. Sheer curtains or privacy windows would be so nice.
• The main ocean-facing window looked cloudy or dirty, affecting the almost perfect view.
• Bug issues in the downstairs area and an ant outbreak after the first night (mostly in the kitchen, some in the bathroom).
• Communication happened mostly through text instead of Airbnb, also was offered 20% refund I had to follow up on twice. Only got a response once I copied and pasted the text to the Airbnb message portal
• Trash instructions were inconsistent between text messages and the Airbnb listing.
• The home feels dated in places and could use some updates.
• Patio seat cushions didn’t arrive until the third day despite being told they’d be delivered each day.

Our family was overwhelmed with gratitude for our experience at Sunset on the Strand. The views were beyond description! When the tide is up the beach across the street is not accessible, but there were plenty of times during the day when our granddaughters could go directly across the street and enjoy playing in the sand and ocean. The property is also located in walking distance to shopping and restaurants, as well as nice experiences walking along the sidewalk to the pier, sea lions, and sand. We loved the house, which included parking and a very nice layout which easily suited our family of 10. If all goes well we will definitely return next year. Perfect vacation spot!! Love the patio with tons of seating. House is super roomy and open. Everyone loved their rooms. Downstairs was perfect, like its own extra apartment perfect for a family. Booking, accommodation, cleaning, etc was all so smooth and professional. Details down to the shower soap/shampoos all branded and makeup towels were a professional touch. Will continue to use On The Sand as long as we keep enjoying vacations! Thanks for always being friendly and professional.

The GREAT things: Fabulous location on The Strand, beautiful views, a perfect spot for a relaxing and fun family get away. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and a large open area with great seating to play games and relax together. The beach gear - wagon, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, etc were wonderful and exactly what we needed for soooo much fun at the beach. The beach access was perfect, just a few steps away for low tide steps onto the sand (at high tide the access was just a few minute walk farther down). CHALLENGES we encountered: There was a plumbing issue that rendered the master bathroom unusable, it took 4 long days to get the plumber out to fix it. We could have used more fans, we were here in August and it was warm even with the windows open. There were only 3 fans provided and many of the windows did not have screens on them or broken latches so we couldn’t open them. As others have mentioned, the dryer took 2-3 full cycles to dry clothes.

Thank you for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed the location, views, and all of the beach gear. I am very sorry about the plumbing issue and the delay in getting it resolved. We know that losing use of the master bathroom was frustrating, and while it does not replace the comfort you missed out on, we hope the $300 reimbursement helped make up for at least some of the inconvenience. The dryer has since been repaired and we are adding more fans and addressing the window screens so future guests will be more comfortable. Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us. California and familiar with Oceanside, but spending days and nights at the ocean hearing the surf, watching the beach walkers and cars, and best of all the sunsets from the balcony were beautiful. Downstairs was a perfect hangout for our older teens to have their own space.

This was for our annual guy's trip and the location was great. 5 minute walk to the convenient store, beach right across the street (great for people watching on the balcony), restaurants within 25 minute walk. The house had two large living area (top and bottom) so it was great to use to top with balcony to chill outside and the bottom to chill at the hot tub. Would book again if we decide to do another trip to Carlsbad/Oceanside.

This would be a 5 star review, except that the clothes drier was very weak, and the dish washer did not work properly (the latch releasing the soap pod did not open). But the location is exceptional, and we could hear the ocean waves from the master bedroom at night.

We stayed at this property because we had to evacuate from Los Angeles due to the fires. Management was extremely accommodating. They offered to bring us materials we may need, which we did, and allowed us to check out late on the last day because we had to switch locations and needed the extra time before checking in to the second place. Outstanding customer service.

We had a wonderful family stay. The house was perfectly located, steps from the beach. We brought extra fans, the main level sleeping was pretty warm, mid August. The ice maker didn’t work, and obviously hadn’t with the leftover bag of ice in the freezer. Keep in mind, this is a beach house and has the housekeeping challenges a house on the ocean would have. With that said, it was a great house for a small family reunion and we loved being able to watch our older kids surfing. With the beach so close, walking back and forth was easy. Having beach toys was great, including a couple of umbrellas. We had no issues during our stay.

This was a perfect place for our family of 10: 7 adults and 3 kids with plenty of room to spread out! The kitchen was well stocked with plates/bowls/cups, as well as, small appliances. Each bathroom had plenty of towels/toilet paper and shampoo/soap items. The only thing that was missing was laundry detergent and we were told they don't supply due to guest allergies. So bring detergent if you're planning to do laundry. The ocean view was magnificent and we loved opening up all the windows to hear the crashing of waves that was music to our ears. It was a close walk to the pier and downtown area. We rented surreys by the pier and had a blast riding up and down The Strand. It was a very easy check-in/check-out process. The management was very quick to respond to questions/needs that we had before and during our stay. We would highly recommend this place!

Our group enjoyed staying here for a week. The location is great. The size of the space is also really nice, especially having two living areas and the whole house to yourself. The only negative is that the water pressure in the showers wasn’t great.

This house was ideal for a family reunion. There are two separate living rooms. One for the kids downstairs and one for the adults upstairs. The kitchen is nice and big. The balcony is perfect for relaxing and watching the waves. Loved it!

We had an amazing vacation in the Sunset On The Strand house. It is beautiful and spacious. The kitchen is great to cook in and everything is decorated perfectly for a beach vacation. The best part is sitting on the balcony and watching the waves roll in, you can't beat the view and the closeness to the beach. You can even hear the waves from the bedrooms so you can fall asleep to the sound of the Ocean.

Loved being able to walk to restaurants, bars and shops and the food recommendations were on point.
We would definitely stay there again. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars was the lack of functioning fireplace and the propane tank was empty but pretty minor in the scheme of things.

Location/view was amazing! Had issue with water heater, but we called - it was looked at immediately and fixed the very next day when parts were obtained. I would definitely stay there again!
